The Woman in Suite 11 - Ruth Ware's entertaining sequel to The Woman in Cabin 10.

It's been a decade since we first encountered Laura (Lo) Blacklock, a British travel writer who survived a harrowing Norwegian cruise in the thriller The Woman in Cabin 10. Following her ordeal, Lo penned a best-selling book about the traumatic experience. Now, she's married to Judah, and they live in New York with their two sons. Between motherhood and COVID, her career has stalled. When she is invited to the opening of a luxury hotel on Lake Geneva in Switzerland, along with other journalists and influencers, she can't pass up the opportunity to get back in the game. Her former boss promised to publish her article in the Financial Times if she secures an interview with reclusive billionaire Marcus Leidmann, owner of the new resort. Upon her arrival, she is shocked that several people who were also on the Norwegian cruise are at the hotel. Coincidence? And just like that, Lo is entangled in another deadly trip.

With so many Ruth Ware fans having read The Woman in Cabin 10 in 2016, there's a built-in audience for its sequel, The Woman in Suite 11. It had been a while since I read the first book, so I needed a refresher. The new book recaps what happened, who lived, who died, and who killed whom, but if you're new to the characters, you might want to start with the first book or read the many recaps online. I'm also planning to watch the Netflix adaptation of the first book, airing this fall and starring Kiera Knightley as Lo. I enjoyed getting reacquainted with Lo, a smart woman prone to making impulsive, poor decisions, and I liked that the story extended beyond the new hotel, bringing Lo across Europe. It was another entertaining read from Ware.
