Hollow Bones - heart-wrenching, intense, and unmissable.

When Molly Fitzgerald was a baby, she lost her mother, Eloise, who had a doctor's appointment at the World Trade Center on 9/11. This event profoundly impacted her life. Eloise's best friend, Evie, eventually married Molly's father, and they lovingly raised Molly together. Now twenty-five and happily married, Molly heads the Rhode Island Department for Emergency Preparedness. The story then shifts to Eloise's perspective, highlighting her painful childhood in an abusive home. And that's where it's best to stop so nothing further is revealed.

Jodi Picoult's Hollow Bones is an intensely emotional book. In addition to the tragedy of 9/11, it tackles heavy topics including postpartum psychosis, infanticide, and child abuse. The compelling characters, including Molly, will draw you into their stories, making you feel their pain. If you can handle being emotionally shattered, you'll appreciate how this skilled author, in her 30th novel, pieces you back together. Don't miss this book. And be sure to read the Author's Note.

Many thanks to Ballantine Book for the advance.
