In 1912, two very different women are traveling on the ill-fated RMS Titanic. Nabitha “Bea” Hohra is a Lebanese immigrant traveling to New York City with the hope of earning enough money to bring her mother and cousins to America. Wealthy Marguerite Ashby is engaged to the Earl of Hexwick, an arrangement made by her “new money” parents to gain acceptance into New York society, while providing the Earl with much-needed funds for his estate in England. As the Titanic sinks, Bea saves Marguerite, and together they rescue a baby boy. With nowhere to go, Marguerite brings Bea to her family mansion to care for the child while they search for his relatives. As Marguerite becomes increasingly more unhappy about her upcoming marriage, she creates The Survivors Guild, to help other survivors and as an alternate way to impress New York society.

If you enjoy stories about the Gilded Age, check out The Survivors Guild by Gabriella Saab. It highlights the divide between the upper and lower classes as well as the challenges faced by women during the period. This story of friendship and perseverance was very enjoyable.
