The Proving Ground - the Lincoln Lawyer series continues to thrill.

Attorney Mickey Haller, long known as the Lincoln Lawyer, has decided to take on civil litigation cases after devoting his career to criminal defense. He is hired by Brenda Randolph, the mother of Rebecca, a 16-year-old who was murdered by her former boyfriend, Aaron Colton, to sue Tidalwaiv Technologies, a company that markets an AI app for teens. It is uncovered that Aaron was obsessed with his AI chatbot companion, who encouraged him to "get rid of" Rebecca after she broke up with him. Haller must demonstrate negligence on the part of the company, which wants this suit to go away due to ongoing merger talks. Brenda's aim is not a huge payout but to have Tidalwaiv admit responsibility and implement safeguard measures to protect future users. As Haller and his team pursue accountability and justice, Los Angeles is on fire. 

Author Michael Connelly has created a long-running series of books featuring Haller, his half-brother Harry Bosch, and Detective Renée Ballard. The Proving Ground, the 8th Lincoln Lawyer book, and #41 in the "Harry Bosch Universe," exemplifies how entertaining these books are. The focus on Artificial Intelligence in Haller's case makes this book very timely and relevant, along with the addition of the tragic LA wildfires. All of Connelly's characters are terrific. Keep 'em coming!
