The Seven Daughters of Dupree - a sweeping story of pain and hope across seven generations.

It's 1995 and teenage Tati is living in Chicago with her mother Nadia, who runs "Nadia's Nubian Salon." Tati is desperate to discover the identity of her father, but her mother won't tell her anything. She also wants to know about Land's End, Alabama, where her family came from. Her grandmother Gladys believes some things are better left unsaid. The story of the Dupree family begins in 1870 with Emma, an orphan whose mother had been enslaved by Zephaniah Foster Dupree, the landowner and Emma's biological father. The generations continued with Jubilee and Ruby. Told from each of the Dupree daughter's perspectives, their stories are filled with pain as well as hope, resilience and the love of family.

The Seven Daughters of Dupree by Nikesha Elise Williams is a sweeping story that vividly portrays the experiences of Black women, tracing back to the era of slavery. We learn about Tati journey into womanhood as her history is revealed. It's a very moving story.
