In their new, lower-class neighborhood, Ellie meets the lively Homa, and they become close friends. The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali is a wonderful story about friendship, forgiveness, fighting against social injustice, and much more. Initially, I passed on reading this book when it came out mid-year, but seeing it featured on numerous year-end best-of lists made me reconsider, and I'm so happy I did. It touched me deeply.
Rated 5 out of 5 stars.
