Elly Parker, a successful social media influencer with millions of followers for her posts on random acts of kindness, experiences a shocking turn of events during a livestream. The newly married Elly enters her Manhattan apartment only to find her husband, James engaging in an affair with her best friend Harriet. The public, who witnessed it all, quickly rallies to support Elly. Except for one man. On a subway platform, Elly comes to the aid of an attractive, well-dressed man whose luggage had fallen down the stairs. Soon after, Elly finds herself in the hospital, where she is arrested for the murder of James and Harriet. Attorney and former con-man Eddie Flynn is hired to defend Elly, whom he believes is innocent. Meanwhile, Flynn's ex-wife, her husband, and daughter are caught up in a dangerous and threatening situation. Flynn has his work cut out for him.
Two Kinds of Stranger is the ninth book in Steve Cavanagh's terrific Eddie Flynn series. They can be read in any order or as standalone novels. This installment is an ideal introduction to Flynn, and his great group of loyal, supporting characters. The book's "bad guy" is as despicable as they come - a brilliant and cunning sociopath who seems to have covered all his bases to ensure he gets away with his crimes. The courtroom scenes are highly entertaining, showcasing Flynn's brilliant legal mind. Cavanagh's engaging writing style keeps everything moving fast, the plot sharp, and the tension high. This book is sure to be on my "best of" list at the end of the year. Don't miss it.
