Tropesick - two authors writing a romance novel also create their own rekindled love story.

Katie Caruso is a ghostwriter for Meredith Bradford, a best-selling author famous for her romance novels, who lives in seclusion in the Hamptons. Faced with a tight deadline, her agent has brought in another writer to partner with Katie on her latest book. The author is Tyler McNally, who specializes in literary fiction and lacks experience in the romance genre. However, Tyler isn't just any twenty-something writer, he is the love of Katie's life. The man who once broke her heart. Tyler was the best friend of Katie's brother Mikey, and after Mikey's tragic death, Tyler left town without saying goodbye. Now, they must work together on a novel meant to be filled with popular romance tropes. As they collaborate, navigating feelings of grief and regret, it is clear that their own trope-filled love story is unfolding - a second chance at love, close proximity, and more.

Tropesick by Lauren Okie is a creative story that continually winks at the reader with all its familiar tropes. This refreshing book also features a book-within-a-book. Romantic tension and desire keep building, while the couple deals with feelings of loss that deeply impacted them. And then there's the enigmatic Meredith Bradford, a great character. This is a satisfying book that just might break your heart before putting it back together.
