Joy Moore and her best friend Benny Abbott were amazed when their "comedy survival" podcast This Story Might Save Your Life, became a massive success with a multi-million-dollar distribution deal in the works. After Joy tells Benny that she needs a break, he is caught off guard. When Benny visits her home the next day, Joy and her husband Xander are missing. Their disappearance becomes major news, with leads and theories pouring in from the fans of the podcast. The police are informed that Joy had a stalker, but their focus shifts to Benny, who is desperate to find out what happened. The story is told by Benny as well as through the pages of a memoir Joy was writing. It becomes evident that there are dark secrets being hidden by the people behind the playful and witty podcast. 

This Story Might Save Your Life is the impressive debut novel by Tiffany Crum, blending Mystery Thriller, Romance and Contemporary Fiction genres. Although there is a mystery to unravel, the story's biggest appeal is the friendship and love between Joy and Benny. (Fans of the 70s sitcom Happy Days will appreciate the frequent references to its characters.) The cliff-hanger chapter endings and alternating points of view made this a hard book to put down. I'm looking forward to reading what Crum writes next.
