Halston Graham is a brilliant young woman on a mission. When we first meet her, she is at the U.S. Open Tennis Championships, placing bets on the matches. With insider help, she is doing very well. But she has a much bigger plan. She cleverly finds a way to get an audience with Anton Nikolov, a major crime boss. Halston is a new employee at Echelon, an exclusive auction house where only members can bid on its rare art. She is aware that a newly discovered Picasso painting will soon be auctioned off, and Halston has devised the perfect plan to steal it. Nikolov and Enzio Bergamo, a fashion designer and an Echelon member, join in on the heist, along with her brother, Skip, who stays in the background. In a thrilling sequence reminiscent of The Crown Heights Affair and Ocean's Eleven, Halston's plan is put into action. But the Picasso heist is just the beginning. There are numerous twists and turns, misdirection, and double crossings as Halston and Skip work to find a way to help free their wrongly imprisoned father.
The Picasso Heist, written by James Patterson and Howard Roughan, was non-stop fun. Its great characters and familiar settings across New York and New Jersey made it a highly entertaining book that reads like a movie.
