Summerland Cove - three generations of women try to prevent their family from falling apart.

The year is 2010, and the setting is Summerland Cove on the coast of Maine. Lindy cherishes her time at her childhood summer home, Innisfree, where she and her husband David first met and fell in love. But this summer's visit is overloaded with events: David's fiftieth birthday party, her parents' fiftieth anniversary, and her daughter Hailey's wedding. Lindy is shocked when David fails to appear at his own birthday celebration. Is he injured? Has he left her for someone else? His disappearance sets off a series of revelations and repercussions. The story unfolds in the present and the past, uncovering secrets they have kept from each another.

Ellen Baker's The Hidden Life of Cecily Larson was a wonderful historical fiction novel. In Summerland Cove, Baker switches genres with ease, combining contemporary fiction with mystery, set in an ideal location for summer reading. This multigenerational family drama is effectively told from different perspectives. It's an engaging story to get fully immersed in, and you might even start to feel the sea breeze.

Many thanks to Mariner Books for the advance.
