It's 2022 and Carrie Cole has settled into a peaceful life in Devon, England. She's married to Robin and left her promising career as a surgeon to focus on raising their twins. While content with her life, she has worked hard to move past the devastation of her first marriage, which lasted only a few hours. Back in 2010, Carrie met Johan Kullberg, a man she was sure was her soulmate. During a trip to Thailand, he proposed, they married on the beach, and just hours later, he was arrested. With no choice but to return home, she never saw or heard from him again, remaining unaware of his fate. However, while planning a trip to visit Sweden, she learns that he has been released from jail and is living in Stockholm. Should she risk everything to contact him? Does she seek closure or something more from the man who made her feel in a way she has never felt since?
Rosie Walsh takes us on a whirlwind of emotions in The One Day You Were My Husband. It begins as an intense romance that ends in heartbreak, only for our main character, the likeable Carrie, to find stability with a devoted husband and two children, despite the lingering mystery surrounding Johan. But the story takes a turn and switches into thriller mode when Johan's story is uncovered. Bravo, Rosie! You got me.
