The Invisible Woman - a former FBI agent goes undercover when offered a chance to restore her tarnished reputation.

Elinor Gilbert had worked as an FBI agent until her supervisor, Alan Metcalf, made the scapegoat for a problematic incident he had caused. She is shocked when Metcalf contacts her for a special undercover assignment, offering a chance to repair her reputation with the Bureau and recover back wages. At the age of fifty, Elinor feels as if she walking through life feeling invisible, and this assignment excites her to get back in the game. Wearing a fat suit and make-up that exaggerates her wrinkles, she takes on the role of nanny to Lily, the 5-month-old daughter of Ben, an art gallery owner suspected of being involved in a money laundering scheme with a dangerous cartel. Amber, Lily's mother and Ben's second wife, is a beautiful woman whose frequent social engagements leaves Elinor alone to figure out how to care for Lily, something she has no experience in. In her disguise, she is truly an invisible woman. However, trying to collect information on Ben becomes quite a challenge with a baby in tow, as Metcalf becomes increasingly impatient.

The Invisible Woman is the latest collaboration between James Patterson and Susan DiLallo. Although it is a mystery, it is also very funny. Elinor is quite a witty and often sarcastic woman, and her observations are hilarious, especially when it comes to taking care of a baby and the family's two dogs. Elinor is a great character, and if you're of a certain age, you'll surely find her relatable. If you're looking for a quick and enjoyable read that will leave you smiling, check this one out.
