The First Time I Saw Him - an action-packed sequel about family, love and loyalty.

If you are among those who read and enjoyed The Last Thing He Told Me (2021), Laura Dave's sequel The First Time I Saw Him is surely on your must-read list. This fast-paced book begins five years after Hannah Hall's husband, Owen, disappeared, revealing that he had been hiding a secret life. During this time, Hannah and her stepdaughter Bailey have grown very close, anticipating the day when they might see Owen again. When that day finally arrives, their world is turned upside down as they realize their lives are now in jeopardy.

As Hannah and Bailey flee for their lives, the action goes into high gear and never lets up. Their relationship is the core of the book. Through multiple points-of-view and timelines, we gain insight into Owen's past and gain further details about Bailey's grandfather Nicholas Bell, a fascinating character. Reading both books, about family, love, and loyalty, is recommended. They were quick reads and hard to put down. 

Note: the TV adaptation of The Last Thing He Told Me, starring Jennifer Garner as Hannah, has been airing on Apple TV. Season 2, which premieres on Feb 20th, picks up with the storyline of The First Time I Saw Him.
