Savannah Brooks is a literary assistant while she works on her writing skills and her manuscript. Her boss is the agent for Bennett Bryson, a bestselling horror author whom she idolizes, and she has the opportunity to meet him at an event. The recently widowed author is drawn to Savannah and a romance quickly develops. Promise Me Never by Liv Constantine, the pen name for the writing team of sisters Lynne and Valerie Constantine, is told in the present with Savannah, a naïve woman who jumps into a marriage that initially seems perfect, and in the past by Poppy, an artist on the brink of fame before her untimely death. It's a fast-paced book that follows a traditional thriller path until the rewarding twists arrive, as expected from this talented duo.
