Phoebe Berman is 29 years old and lives in Los Angeles. She loves her job as a pre-K teacher, enjoys a great circle of friends, and has a loving family. What she also has is her virginity. A disastrous and traumatizing first-kiss incident in middle school has escalated into a significant fear of intimacy. Phoebe Berman's Gonna Lose It is the debut novel by Brooke Averick, a popular podcaster. It is impossible not to care about and root for Phoebe. Her friends are the kind everyone wishes to have, always lifting her up and supporting her while acknowledging her struggles. I also loved her father, who was able to openly discuss the "virginity issue" with her. This is a lighthearted book filled with humor and heart.
