Klara Martin is an ambitious lawyer determined to become a partner at her law firm. She meets Troy Weston at an industry function, and he does everything possible to become a part of her life. In a blink of an eye, Klara and Troy are on a path she didn't think she wanted to be on. Yet something seems not quite right about this whirlwind romance. In Hawthorne Heights, a desirable neighborhood in a Maryland suburb, secrets lie behind the doors of its nice homes. Mary is a widow who needs to sell her house to make ends meet. Shunned by her neighbors, she painfully sorts through the belongings of her son Owen as she clears out his room. Meanwhile, a couple welcomes their son Henry back home after he loses his job. Although they are unaware of the exact reason for his unemployment, they suspect Henry left the company under unfavorable circumstances. And now he is fixated on the young wife who lives across the street. It is only a matter of time until the lives of all these characters come together. 

Ours is a Tale of Murder by Nora Murphy is a clever domestic thriller. For a large part of the novel, the stories of the different families are kept separate from one another through multiple points-of-view, adding more and more tension and the feeling that something very bad is going to happen. The author has crafted some well-done, "I didn't see it coming," twists. Fans of psychological thrillers should check out this one out.
