Eleven years ago, Eliza and Bea Ramsey's parents perished in a plane crash, and miraculously, the two sisters survived. Each year, on the anniversary of the crash, they commemorate with a Remembrance Day. This year, Bea's daughter Piper is spending the week leading up to this day with her Aunt Eliza. But when Bea does not show up, Eliza knows something is very wrong. Not only is the day an important one for all of them, but Bea would never abandon her daughter. Or would she? Bea's clothes are missing from her home, and a handwritten note in her mailbox reads, "Stop looking for me." Eliza sets out to uncover what happened to Bea and learns much more than she ever could have anticipated.

Hank Phillippi Ryan's fast-paced Mother Daughter Sister Stranger kept me on the edge of my seat. Eliza is a terrific character, determined to find her sister and protect her niece. The family secrets she uncovers lead to a journey filled with shocking twists and turns. Eleven-year-old Piper is adorable and smart as a whip, adding a sweetness to this intense story. Other intriguing characters include Whitney, Eliza's literary agent boss, and their Aunt Margaret, who took the sisters in after the accident. I enjoy thrillers that lead me down a path where I'm sure I have everything figured out, only to have the rug pulled out from under me. This book delivered.
