Keep Them Close - a smart and inventive thriller with non-stop twists.

Allison, a successful attorney, discovers that her husband Finley has been unfaithful. She confides in her brother Luke, who has been a tremendous support for her. She has also consistently supported him, especially after he lost his dream of becoming a professional baseball player due to an accident. When Finley is found dead in a dumpster, the investigation into his murder begins, and Luke encounters his own legal issues. Allison is a brilliant attorney whose skills are exhibited in her efforts to help her brother, protect herself, and uncover the truth behind her husband's murder. Through alternating timelines and multiple perspectives, secrets start piling up. From years-long deceptions to recent lies, nothing is as it appears.

Keep Them Close is the latest winning thriller by David Ellis, one my favorite authors in the genre. Apart from writing books, Ellis serves as an Appellate Court Justice, which explains how he is able to construct such intricately developed legal stories. This novel is smart and inventive, making it impossible to put down. The tension keeps escalating and the twists keep coming. What a great ride. Expect to find it on my “Best of 2026” list.
