The town also has its secrets, including another case of a missing teenager who was never found. The present-day story is told by Courtney, and we get Reese's perspective on the days leading up to the murders. Once the past timeline aligns with the present, the truth is shockingly revealed.

Author Mary Kubica continues to excel at creating tense thrillers. It's Not Her epitomizes a binge-worthy, keep-you-guessing read. The situation is so gripping that it was hard to put this book down. Nevertheless, it was often necessary to stop and breathe. Although Reese is a character who cannot be trusted, her situation is heartbreaking. She is desperate for her family's love and for friendship but continues to alienate everyone. Did her state of mind drive her to commit murder? If not, where is she?
