Following the death of Frank Sheridan, the immensely successful author of the beloved Ravian book series, his daughter Ciara is left with numerous responsibilities while she grieves. Ciara, also a writer who has had moderate success, must first attend to the large house in Ireland she inherited, which requires repairs. She also has to deal with the many fans who make pilgrimages to the home. And finally, she needs to preserve her father's legacy, starting with his request for her to complete the series with a final book. Although she makes a good start, Ciara struggles to continue writing. Her father's New York City publisher sends editor Sam Avery, an admitted "fan boy" of the series, to help get the book back on track. Despite a rocky start, Ciara realizes that Sam is good at what he does. And their chemistry reveals that something more than just a bestseller might be developing.
How to Write a Love Story by Catherine Walsh is a delight. The characters are very appealing, and the build-up to the inevitable romance is well done. The Irish setting adds a nice touch to this sweet story filled with witty banter. It's a quick, satisfying read. Â
