Big Little Truths: the long-awaited sequel to Big Little Lies delivers.

The fictional Pirriwee Peninsula, located in the Northern Beaches area of Sydney, Australia, is a community filled with deep secrets. When the book Big Little Lies ended, Madeline, Celeste, Jane, Renata, and Bonnie's children were five years old. In Big Little Truths, a decade has passed, and the kids are now in high school with everyone facing a whole new set of challenges. When the school principal receives a severed finger in the mail, it puts everyone on edge. To make matters worse, an unknown man has been seen driving around asking questions. The happy occasion of Madeline's 50th birthday is marred by a health scare and concerns over her husband Ed. Celeste continues to deal with the death of her abusive husband Perry and its impact on their twin sons. Her mother-in-law, Mary-Louise, remains an unwelcome presence in her life. The school's new history teacher has become a favorite among the students as well as the mothers, who are captivated by the charismatic Melody Montclair. Part of the story unfolds through conversations during “safe space” counseling sessions for the children, which take place after a traumatic event at the school, referred to as D-Day.

If you've read Big Little Lies or enjoyed the television series, Liane Moriarty's Big Little Truths is a must read. It's great to catch up with the characters. Years later, the families have to face the consequences of the past. Unless you have a great memory, a quick refresher is needed to keep track of each main character, their children, and husbands. While this latest tale with surely make it to the screen, don't wait. It's another winner worth reading now.
