The Spy Coast - retired CIA agents get back in the game in this highly entertaining spy thriller.

Maggie Bird has recently settled into a calm, anonymous life raising chickens on a farm in Purity, Maine. Her neighbors know her as a nice, friendly gray-haired woman. What they don't know is that Maggie and a small group of people in the quaint town are former CIA agents. Almost two decades after leaving the agency, the file of her case, which still haunts her, has been compromised and her life is now in danger. The group, dubbed The Martini Club, decides it's time to mobilize. The local police are baffled by the investigative skills of the former agents who haven't lost their talent after all these years.

If you are an Amazon Prime member, you probably know that its First Reads program offers a free digital book each month. Every once in a while, one of the books turns out to be a winner like Tess Gerritsen's The Spy Coast, the first in a two-book series. This clever spy thriller takes us from Maine to Bangkok, Istanbul, England and Italy. It's a fast read filled with a great group of characters. It has been a while since I've read a book by the author of the entertaining Rizzoli & Ives series, and I'd forgotten what a talented writer Gerritsen is.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Mystery Thriller / Espionage / Suspense.

Publication Date: November 1, 2023.
