The Collector (Gabriel Allon, #23) - this engaging series keeps going strong and remains relevant.

Gabriel Allon, the world's most famous ex-spy and former head of the Israeli Intelligence Agency is trying to live a more peaceful life in Venice with his wife and two children. But when there is a chance to find the world's most famous missing painting, Vermeer’s The Concert, stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston in 1990, Allon agrees to help. Of course, this is more than a search for a painting. Soon Allon finds himself in the middle of a plot that could escalate to World War III. From the villa of a murdered South African shipping tycoon to Denmark and ultimately Russia, can Allon save the day?

The most ardent fans of Daniel Silva's highly engaging and action-packed Gabriel Allon series have probably already read The Collector. The series premiered in 2000 and keeps going strong. If you haven't read it yet, or are new to the series, it is one of the best Silva has written. Book twenty-three is action-packed, fast-moving and is as fresh and relevant as ever. Sure, it's over the top but that's to be expected. Enjoy it. And eagerly await book #24.
