Sunburned - a trip to St. Barth's is filled with lies, betrayal, and blackmail.

Audrey Collet operates a firm that specializes in uncovering information for her clients. She's raising her ten-year-old twins on her own. She receives an unexpected request (more like a demand) from her ex-boyfriend, Tyson Dale, now a tech billionaire, to come to his vacation home in St. Barth’s. For a fee of $100,000, he wants Audrey to figure out which of his guests is threatening him with a secret from his past. This part of his past also includes Audrey. It turns out that everyone Tyson suspects, including his wife and his business partner, despises him, and each has a motive to hurt him. The story unfolds in the present day with flashbacks to the past, revealing Tyson and Audrey's dark history. It explains why she can't walk away when things become dangerous.

Author Katherine Wood originally began writing thrillers under the pseudonym Katherine St. John. Her debut novel, The Lion's Den (2020), was set in the French Riviera, followed by The Siren (2021) in the Caribbean. Her latest book, Sunburned, is written under her real name and transports us to another opulent destination. Thrillers set in such luxurious places add an enjoyable element, especially when they feature rich people behaving badly. The suspense keeps building with unexpected twists and turns. A good choice for a read on the beach.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars.
