J.D. Robb (pseudonym for bestselling author Nora Roberts) brings fans of the In Death series it's 50th book. This is one of the few books/series I’ve strongly enjoyed that takes place in the future (mid-21st century in New York City.) The world of the not so distant future never seems far fetched. It simply works. And to celebrate this golden anniversary, we are treated to another clever story. Incredibly, the author keeps the series fresh and interesting.
A respected pediatrician receives a mysterious golden egg filled with a toxic gas that kills him immediately. Then another seemingly unrelated victim is killed the same way. Who wants these people dead? Detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas’ investigative skills are in top form as this latest case twists and turns. Fans of the series will love #50 and new readers will enjoy it too although it always helps to go back and read more to best understand this enjoyable cast of characters.
