Claire Campbell is an investigative journalist whose career has stalled. She's living in New York City when she is asked by her father to return to her childhood home in South Carolina to help care for her estranged mother, who has had an accident. She agrees, aware that this visit will exacerbate her ongoing trauma. Twenty-two years earlier, her older sister Natalie vanished. Although her body was never found, strong evidence led to the conviction of a local man for her murder. As Claire sorts through her sister's belongings, she examines old photos of Natalie, searching for clues about her disappearance. Realizing that her mother is not appreciative of her presence, she decides to visit Galloway Farm, a vineyard less than an hour away, where Natalie had spent some time. After meeting Liam, who works on the property, and owners Mitchell and Marcia, Claire is offered a job to work there for the summer. Upon discovering Marcia's old diary hidden in her room, Claire becomes increasingly suspicious of the vineyard, suspecting a connection to her sister's disappearance and other young women who have gone missing.
Stacy Willingham's Forget Me Not is a gripping mystery thriller, enhanced by its atmospheric quality in both the present and the past as the story slowly unfolds. The twists keep coming as Claire gets closer and closer to discovering the truth about the Farm and her sister's fate. You may get a bit unnerved, but you won't want to stop reading.
