Battle of the Bookstores - a sweet enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story.

Josie Klein is the manager of Tabula Inscripta, a bookstore near Boston that specializes in literary books. Ryan Lawson is the manager of Happy Endings, another bookstore located on the same block, which focuses on selling romance novels. While Josie runs everything herself, with occasional assistance from her sister, Ryan employs a diverse team and hosts lively events. Xander Laing, an area developer, recently acquired both bookstores, as well as the coffee shop located between them. He informs Josie and Ryan of his plan to combine the three spaces and hire one of them to run the new store. Let the competition begin.

Battle of the Bookstores, by Ali Brady (the writing duo of Alison Hammer and Bradeigh Godfrey), is a sweet enemies-to-friends-to-lovers tale with You’ve Got Mail vibes. Having read all their books, I made sure to read this latest one when I needed a light, feel-good rom-com. The characters are endearing, and their journey to love, though predictable, was delightful. It's hard not to enjoy a romance set in a bookstore.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars.
