Gabriel Allon, the world's most famous ex-spy and former head of the Israeli Intelligence Agency, has returned to his passion for art restoration. Living in Venice with his family, he is busy restoring a famous work by Renaissance painter Titian. Upon discovering a woman's body in the Venetian Lagoon, he becomes involved in a murder mystery linked to a newly discovered painting, concealed beneath another picture, which could be a masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci. The painting has been stolen from the Vatican, and Allon, a close confidant of the Pope, is on the case to recover it. Art, corruption, and espionage come together in this fast-paced installment of this great, long-running series.
Fortunately, author Daniel Silva continues to create new adventures for Gabriel Allon, keeping the character fresh and dynamic. An Inside Job marks the 25th book in the series. If you're new to the tales of the former Mossad spy and enjoy the world of art, this book could be the perfect introduction to the series. For those who have been reading the series, which started in 2000, you'll enjoy the return of some old friends and associates. In addition to the intriguing and suspenseful plotlines, the beautiful settings always add to the enjoyment. I'm ready for book number 26.
